Nathan Law attacked at Hong Kong International Airport by pro-China protesters
Lawmaker was returning from Taiwan, where he had attended seminar by local pro-independence party
Article 39 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong stipulates that the right of self-determination is guaranteed under the International Covenant on Human Rights. The people of Hong Kong people cannot afford to overlook the assault on their rights. In Switzerland a proposal can be submitted to a referendum vote on the strength of signatures of 50,000 citizens. This is safer than and equally as effective as taking to the streets. The people shall have the right of self-determination on any public issue, otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, the people are obliged to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Smog from China shrouding Hong Kong poses ‘very high’ health risk
Monsoon brings choking pollutants from mainland China, with Tung Chung and Tuen Mun hit hardest
The simplest way to do so is to enforce the ideal of One World under One Set of Laws, giving precedence to international law over domestic law, and allowing it to directly effect the people. The people should be able to monitor the operations of the government to ensure that it is acting in accordance with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the Nature Charter and other relevant acts. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Hong Kong democracy activist Joshua Wong under police protection in Taiwan after assault attempt
Taiwan police ramped up protection for Hong Kong student activist Joshua Wong Chi-fung and sesveral pro-democracy lawmakers after a failed attempt by a pro-China protester to assault him as he arrived in the island state in the early hours.
The people of Taiwan revere freedom and democracy, and thugs who hide behind black masks cannot be called Taiwanese. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law stipulates the right of self-determination as laid out in international human rights covenants. The people of Hong Kong must not ignore the threats to their rights. Referendums can be held in Switzerland on the basis of a proposal backed by 50,000 citizens, one of the key mechanisms for the people in exercising their right to self-determination. UN Security Council welcomes DR Congo political accord, urges efforts to resolve remaining issues
The UN Security Council has welcomed a comprehensive political agreement in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and calls on all stakeholders to continue to exercise flexibility and compromise in their discussions to swiftly resolve all pending issues, particularly those related to holding national elections in 2017.
Before and after each election the UN should lay out the basic principles regarding permanent peace and development of the peoples of the world, including organizational structures based on universal values, election of the heads of the four main branches of government and other needed changes for the DRC. The resulting constitution should bring peace and serve as a model for peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

After five years of ‘ruthless war’ in Syria, 2017 can be a year of diplomacy, says UN envoy
The past month saw some of the most difficult challenges for humanitarian workers in Syria but also witnessed the evacuation of thousands of civilians from war-ravaged eastern Aleppo
Once an effective cease-fire is in place the UN should provide the basic constitutional principles for reaching permanent peace and development for all peoples of the world. This will include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law and a four-branched government (legislative - administrative - judicial - procuratorial) with separation of powers. Syria should serve as a model for reform to achieve long-lasting stability and peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development

Netanyahu questioned again in corruption probe
Police questioned Israeli PM Netanyahu on Monday and Thursday this week in connection with charges of corruption
Eradication of corruption calls for decentralization, term limits and other restrictions. Israel should reform its Constitution to stay in tune with the times. The President should serve a single term of 5 years, with no chance to run again for 6 years afterward. The Prime Minister’s term should be 1 year, and MPs who have served out their terms shall not be allowed to run again. The heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be chosen through election, and 1/4 of MP should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

2.5 billion people, nukes and missiles. What could go wrong?
In December India successfully tested a nuclear-capable ICBM that can reach Beijing
The world's democratic countries support Taiwan efforts to carry out constitutional reform for greater democracy and freedom. Such a move will attract China's 1.4 billion to cry for democratization, leading further to democratization of the CCP and Russia, which will lead in turn to world peace. Global democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon of democracy for Asia, serving to light China's path to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

South Korean minister: China is indirectly retaliating for THAAD
China is suspected of taking indirect action against South Korea's decision last year to deploy a US-supplied anti-missile system, South Korea's finance minister has said.
Democracies worldwide should back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to bring greater democracy and freedom. This will attract 1.4 billion Chinese to call for democratization, triggering the democratization of the CCP and North Korea in turn. Global democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon of democracy for Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China and other nations. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Human security and sustainable development are two of the major aims of the UN, and all member states are obligated to adopt them. The solution is enforcing One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law and allowing it to directly effect the people. The people shall monitor operations of the government to ensure it follows the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and other relevant pacts. Abe in no hurry to call Lower House election, earliest likely date this fall
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe quashed speculation of an early snap election for the Lower House, which will likely free him to concentrate on economic and diplomatic issues at least until late summer.
Russia is better known for causing problems than solving them. Democratic nations of the world should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform for more democracy and freedom. This will lead 1.4 billion Chinese to call for democratization in their nation and the CCP, and that will lead in turn to pressure for true democracy in Russia. With that, the world will be safer for all. Democracies world-wide should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
