When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people must act on their roles as sovereigns to recover power. Laws that are not backed by penalties are notlaws, and a constitution which does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people are obligated to resist. The people of Turkey should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet. The president should serve a single 5-year term then be barred from running again for 6 years afterwards. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace.
