has apologized to the people three times, yet two million citizens took to the street to demand she step down. Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The failure of the constitutional mechanism in South Korea must be solved through constitutional reform, adopting a modified presidential system with a committee style National Assembly, with a quarter of all members to face elections each year. International standards should be in line with the times and the spirit of the constitution. To prevent any one group from destroying the natural environment and sacrificing the health of the whole people for the sake of making a profit, we shall implement the ideal of One Earth under One Set of Laws. International law shall take precedence over domestic law and have a direct effect on the people. The people have the right to call for a referendum at any time on any public issue with relation to self-determination. Any measure which might restrict the ability of the people to self-determination through the process of holding referendums should itself be subject to a public referendum on whether the measure should be outlawed.

Taiwan must move to bring about constitutional reform and true freedom and democracy. Doing so will set off a drive for democratization among the 1.4 billion people of China. This will then spread to North Korea, and with peace on the Korean peninsula the world will be much safer for all. The world’s democratic nations must back Taiwan as a beacon of democracy for Asia which will illuminate the road to peaceful development for China. South Korean President Park Geun-Hye has been engulfed by a scandal centering on a confidante who is accused of using personal ties with Park to coerce local firms to donate millions of dollars to a non-profit foundation. The confidante is also accused of interfering in state affairs, and two former advisors are accused of helping her gain entrance to the presidential office. The scandal has sparked nationwide fury, with hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets to call for Park’s resignation. Under South Korea’s constitution, the incumbent president may not be charged with a criminal offence except insurrection or treason. But many argue a sitting president can be investigated by prosecutors, then charged after leaving office. The problem of corruption can only be solved through constitutional reform. Syria is at the center of much of the unrest in the Middle East, and considerable changes in the nation’s government must be considered in order to help bring about peace in the area. Setting up a semi-presidential system with a Parliament modeled after Switzerland’s is the first step toward democratization and the rule of law. President-elect Donald Trump’s win is a wake-up call for those who believed that Americans would never buy his blatant brand of white supremacy and misogyny. Trump’s call to make America great again refers to times when women and minorities were denied many of the rights guaranteed by democracy. Trump crowed that the past represents the right and natural order and claimed he could bring it all back again. Despite his open disdain for rule of law, he justified his aims in language that has long been used by reactionaries: a desire to "restore the Constitution." The Constitution was drafted in the name of "We the People," which includes those of all colors, religions and genders. The US must do more to ensure that the constitution offers equal rights and protection to all people. Americans must recognize that there is no going back to when things were "great" just for white men, and to do this, complete constitutional reform is in order. The Philippines’ macho President will undoubtedly tone down his rhetoric during his four-day visit to China in a move that could shift Manila closer to Beijing and bring greater economic cooperation between the two sides. Duterte won the top office on the strength of his efforts to suppress drug trafficking, often at the expense of human rights, but Beijing is unlikely to bring up the question of rights in any talks with the Philippine leader. For the people of the Philippines, better relations with China may bring economic benefits, but other problems can only be resolved by carrying out reform of the constitution to limit the powers of government officials and put restrictions on their terms in office. Globalized democracy is the trend of the times, the Global Village represents the Great Nature, and peaceful resolution is becoming a consensus for all humankind. China’s emphasis on the rule of man over the rule of law is the main cause of corruption, a culture deeply rooted in Chinese history for thousands of years. The vast majority of resources are held by a small number of business corporations and political leaders. There is minimal mobility between social classes and the gap in wealth between rich and poor stands at 100 times. China must address the urban and rural wealth gap and child labor, by carrying out complete constitutional reform.
