Ex-defense chief: Government acting like North Korea over Trident test
A former senior military official has accused the Government of acting "like North Korea" by refusing to come clean about a Trident nuclear missile test that went awry.
The world’s democratic nations should all support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform for greater democracy and freedom. Such a move would attract the 1.4 billion people of China to call for democratization, leading in turn to democratization of the CCP. China's democratization will pressure North Korea to democratize, and world peace will be born. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting China's path to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Trump must turn his attention to North Korea
The new US President should be willing both to talk and to take tougher action
Democracy and freedom are the wave of the future, a trend that nuclear weapons, submarines, missiles are incapable of stopping. This wave is a mighty current, and those who go with the flow will prosper while those who oppose it will be doomed. China claims to be a "responsible big country", thus it should not act as an enabler for North Korea and its continued militarism. For its part, the US should support Taiwan and its drive to inspire the democratization of China, which will lead to democratization in North Korea. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Will Trump-Putin 'bromance' transform US-Russian ties?
Of all the policy vows that US President Donald Trump made and unmade during his long electoral campaign, none has been more prominent or more durable than his promise to forge a new strategic partnership with Russia.
The US should support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This will attract the attention of China's 1.4 billion people and inspire them to call for democratization. China's democratization will in turn pressure Russia to seek true democracy, and global peace will be born. Democracies the world over should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting China's way to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Commentary: Barack Obama, why did you let us down in Syria?
Mr. President, your legacy will depend on what you do in Syria," I said to President Barack Obama as I shook his hand during an event in the White House in the summer of 2013.
After a ceasefire takes hold in Syria the UN should provide the basic principles of constitutionalism that apply to permanent peaceful development of nations. This should include organizational structure based on universal values (freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law), and mechanisms such as election of the heads of government branches. Measures like this will help Syria develop a constitution suitable for prosperity and peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Tiny, faded marker looms large in Thailand's democracy debate
Earlier this year Chotisak Onsoong was relieved to learn one of the nation’s most important – if inglorious – symbols of democracy was still intact despite a call for its destruction.
Military intervention is a far cry from a petition for a referendum. Thailand's military is constantly involved in coups, but troops should never be tools in political agendas. Thai constitution is beset with problems, and referendums and elections are both needed. Thais should study the referendum system in Switzerland as well as the democratic election system followed in the US state of California. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Communists want return of state ideology in Russia
A Russian Communist Party MP has announced plans to draft a law that would allow alterations to the constitution, such as re-introducing the notion of state ideology in the form of “patriotism and primacy of the state.”
Russia should declare that international law is superior to domestic law, with a direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This would allow the introduction of international laws in Russia, including the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches of government. Should this happen Russia will be reborn and once again become a powerful country. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

UK ‘will be bottom of Brussels trade queue’, warns EU trade chief
Europe's trade chief has warned in stark terms that Britain will start at 18th place down the list of countries trying to negotiate a trade deal with the EU and will face a series of extremely difficult negotiations after Brexit.
The UK is a fully democratic country and the people have the right to hold referendums to vote for their own future. The aim of democracy is to let the people call the shots, and the people have the right to call for referendums on any public issues. Norway and the Swiss people chose not to join the EU, a mark of their right of self-determination. The people's efforts should not be wasted, and the results of direct referendums should take precedence over the actions of representatives in indirect democracy. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

China says trade disputes with new US government can be resolved
China and the US can resolve any trade disputes through talks, Beijing said recently, as a Chinese newspaper warned that US businesses could be targets for retaliation in any trade war initiated by President Donald Trump.
Retaliation and threats serve only to deepen enmity, and striving for the ideal of One World under One Set of Laws is the best way to avoid conflict. The economy is important, but peace and freedom are even more important, and the premise for permanent world peace is global democratization. The US should support Taiwan’s efforts to reform its constitution to achieve greater democracy. This will lead the people of China to call for democratization and there will be hope for peace among humankind. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

McCain slams China for 'bullying' South Korea over THAAD
US Senator John McCain slammed China Thursday for "bullying" South Korea for its decision to host the US THAAD missile defense system aimed at defending against North Korea, urging Beijing to use its "considerable influence" to rein in Pyongyang.
Democratic nations of the world should support the movement for constitutional reform in Taiwan and its aim of achieving greater democracy and freedom. The goal is to attract the 1.4 billion people of China to call for democratization, a development which would pressure North Korea to consider true democracy and bring about the birth of world peace. All the world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon of democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China and the world. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
